When you’re talking about the world of network marketing, timing is a very important factor. Many people who are interested in network marketing wind up failing because they aren’t aware of how important timing is. They believe that they can jump into network marketing at any point in time and can make money, even if they select products that are not popular at the time and that have not become a fad, and they also believe that they can make a fortune just by spending a few minutes a day at their network marketing job. Neither of these statements is true. It is definitely possible to make money network marketing, but you have to be very aware of timing.

The Right Time

The first thing that you need to be aware of is the time that you elect to begin network marketing. If you begin network marketing at the wrong time, jumping on when there is no new product that you can sell in your area, you may be in for a long wait before you’re able to make any money. The trick in making a great deal of money network marketing is to select an item that is going to be very profitable to sell, and if you’re able to jump onto a product when it’s just starting to get popular, you place yourself in a much better position to make the type of money that you are looking to make.

Your Time

The other important factor in making money from network marketing is that you need to be able to spend a little bit of your extra time making your business profitable. Some people believe that all they have to do is to sign up for network marketing and to get their account going and that they’ll make money. While you may be able to make a small amount of money this way, you’ll never make enough that you’ll feel satisfied with what you make. This can be extremely frustrating, and can lead people to believe that network marketing simply doesn’t work. The simple truth of the matter is that if you want to get ahead in network marketing, you need to create a successful downline.

A successful downline is the key to earning the money that you want to earn and in reaching your goals. You can work for hours on selling product – you can run ad campaigns and purchase leads, but if you don’t have a successful downline, you will likely not be able to achieve the measure of success that you’re hoping to achieve.

The difficult thing is that there are many different skills that need to be learned in order to get a successful downline. The first of these skills is learning how to find the right people, and the next is learning how to approach them. Another is learning how to get them going, and the last is learning how to train them. If you’re trying to use network marketing to get ahead in life, and to be your own boss, having people work under you is key. Here are four steps that you need to focus on in order to make your business work well and earn money for you.

Step 1: Learn how to find your clients. Before you can do anything else, you have to know where to find your clients! Quite often friends and family can help you or you can speak with others in the business to get some ideas as to how to find the right prospective clients.

Step 2: Learn how to invite people to look at your opportunity. If you sell things too hard, people are wary. If you sell them too soft, they won’t listen to you. It’s important to practice the right way to invite your clients to look at your opportunity.

When you go into someone’s home, how do they greet you? If you’re someone new to the house, they’ll likely extend a warm welcome to you and will fawn over you a little bit. If you’re someone who has been there many times before, you’ll likely get the “help yourself” treatment, as the host knows that you know your way around the home and that you’re comfortable enough to help yourself to anything that you may need or want while you’re there.

When you’re introducing someone to network marketing, it is a good idea to make sure that you’re taking the right introductory tone to it. It’s easy to forget that not everyone understands what network marketing is and to take the wrong tone with them. It’s extremely easy to give them a quick explanation and then to assume that they know about and understand everything that you’re talking about. This is something that you need to avoid as much as possible.

When you act like someone already knows what network marketing is all about, you’re losing the opportunity to give them the chance to ask questions. It allows you to earn money yourself and to foster new network marketing hopefuls, getting compensated when they do well also.

For the majority of their nearly 30 years of marriage, Al and Jan Keranen have been heavily involved with direct sales and relationship marketing with several companies, most of whom are quite well known. The family centered couple made the move after a car accident left Al with injuries that made it impossible for him to continue the job he had been doing at the time. It was then that the pair realized that they had no control over their own financial future. This was a crucial and pivotal time for the Keranens, and they knew they had to make a change.

After working for a few years as a teacher making about $15,000 a year, Al learned that as long as he was working for someone else, he was earning money for them and not for himself. It wasn't until he learned how network marketing and relationship marketing worked that he understood where his business future would lie. It was in 2003 at a major conference in Phoenix, Arizona that Al and Jan would learn about and ultimately join forces with the Univera company of nutritional and healthy aging products. Though they had been in the direct sales business for many years prior, they had never felt so immediately at home with a business model and a line of products as they did with Univera.

In 2009, Al Keranen was awarded the Yun Ho Lee Award for his phenomenal work within the Univera organization. Named for the founder of Univera, this much coveted 24 karat gold medallion is the company's highest honor, and Al received it less than six years after signing up with his wife.
