How to Greet Potential Prospects

By Al Keranen

When you go into someone’s home, how do they greet you? If you’re someone new to the house, they’ll likely extend a warm welcome to you and will fawn over you a little bit. If you’re someone who has been there many times before, you’ll likely get the “help yourself” treatment, as the host knows that you know your way around the home and that you’re comfortable enough to help yourself to anything that you may need or want while you’re there.

When you’re introducing someone to network marketing, it is a good idea to make sure that you’re taking the right introductory tone to it. It’s easy to forget that not everyone understands what network marketing is and to take the wrong tone with them. It’s extremely easy to give them a quick explanation and then to assume that they know about and understand everything that you’re talking about. This is something that you need to avoid as much as possible.

When you act like someone already knows what network marketing is all about, you’re losing the opportunity to give them the chance to ask questions. Most people won’t ask questions if they believe that you think they know what they’re talking about, as they don’t want to feel like they’re not intelligent. And if they don’t ask questions, they can’t learn about the opportunities awaiting them with network marketing. When you are inviting someone to learn about network marketing, make sure that you take a welcoming approach. Be kind and considerate and remember that they haven’t been involved in network marketing as long as you have. It’s often best if you treat them as though they have absolutely no idea about network marketing. Being kind and considerate about the opportunity often makes people want to learn more about what Network Marketing could do for them.
